Hi all,

I need to understand when I have to use YUV or RGB24 when I transcode something.

The goal is to have a lossless file that I can use on Vegas for example.

Thanks

I mean,

is better to use "as default" (in my case YUV420) or RGB24 transcoding?

Thanks!

It depends on your source material. If your source is YUV 4:2:0 then it's not generally necessary to go RGB.

Keep in mind that Vegas does it's internal processing in RGB, so there's always YUV-RGB conversion involved during import (if importing MagicYUV YUV video), which is not perfectly lossless, but the loss there should be negligible.
